Experiencing Internet Of Things (IoT)

According to Gartner's research. the Internet of Things (IoT), which excludes PCs, tablets and smartphones, will grow to 26 billion units installed in 2020. This represents an almost 30-fold increase from 0.9 billion in 2009. Interestingly, the growth in IoT will also far exceed that of other connected devices. By 2020, the number of smartphones, tablets and PCs in use will reach pnly about 7.3 billion units, less than a third of IOT units.

How will having lots of things connected change everything around? Here is how an IoT powered day in our lives will look.

IoT Possibilities
IoT may help the devices working around you to work smart. Light Bulbs, refrigerators, air conditioning, cooking range etc. In addition however, it has a tremendous potential to transform a whole new set of things into smarter objects. For example clothes with embedded sensors, earphones that measure heart rate and temperature, smart watches that look for presence.

The IoT Economy
Gartner said that IoT product and service suppliers will generate incremental revenue exceeding $300 billion, mostly in services, in 2020. It will result in $1.9 trillion in global economic value-add through sales into diverse end markets.

More About IoT
The Internet of Things is the network of physical objects that contain embedded technology to communicate and sense or interact with their internal states or the external environment. The Internet Of Things (IoT) is the latest technology buzz word, which I assure, you would be hearing more and more often now. Here is a guide to Internet Of Things (IoT) to help understand the phenomenon better.
